Visas

Don’t know whether you need a visa to come to Scotland? We encourage you to check this with the official UK government website right here.

  1. Choose your country, then “Work, academia visit or business”

  2. Select “6 month or less” at the last question

In short, those who have a passport of EU countries, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland DO NOT need to get a visa. Holders of other passports must apply for a visa in order to come to Scotland. In most cases, it is a Standard Visitor Visa.

But no worries! After your abstract is selected and you confirm your attendance, we will help you providing all the necessary documents from our side – confirming that you attend the conference, you have a place to stay, and that your stay is already paid for. We will send you these documents after you confirm your attendance.

Note that you can apply for a visa THE EARLIEST 3 months before your travel. In general, it takes on average 6 weeks. So, please, plan the application process in advance. For more information how to apply for a visa, please visit this website. Application process is mostly online that you can start here.

If you still have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the EMPSEB28 Visa team when applications open.

The need for a visa will have no effect on abstract selection. We encourage participants from diverse backgrounds!
